AppleBee host, Jeannine, invites you to enjoy a tranquil stay in her spacious guest cottages.

Clean, fresh country decor give AppleBee Cottages in Grahamstown Makhanda their unique warmth and charm. They are situated just far enough from the main road to exclude traffic noise. Some have a private garden/patio area with seating and also access to the larger beautifully treed garden and bird-life.

AppleBee Guest Cottage I has its own private garden.  The accommodation offers a separate main bedroom with a queen bed and 2nd bedroom with twin/king beds.  There is a full bathroom with shower and bath.  The three quarter sleeper couch in the lounge enables a total of 5 guests sharing.  It is set up for self-catering with everything required, including a table to work at, gas/electric stove, full size fridge/freezer, microwave, heater, etc.

AppleBee Guest Cottage II is bright and airy, has a large carpeted bedroom with aircon, king/twin beds and bathroom with shower.  Newly renovated, in September 2022, it is fully self-catering with a well-equipped kitchenette with gas hob with pots and pans, full fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, electric frying pan, etc. dining area and comfy lounge seating with a single bed.

The AppleBee Annex is a renovated room in the main house with a private entrance.  This smaller room would suit the more budget conscious guest.  Even though it has a queen bed in the bedroom, it is usually only available for single occupation.  It has a wet-room en-suite bathroom.  Full DSTV, is set up for semi-self-catering with a desk, couple of chairs, Wi-Fi, microwave, toaster, kettle, bar fridge, electric blanket, fan and heater, hairdryer, etc.  You may hear some normal house noise. 

AppleBee III is a lovely sunny space full of windows.  It consists of a large carpeted bedroom with garden and pool view, a king/twin beds and a full bathroom with large shower and bath.  There is a single bed in the tiled lounge area.  Please note, the lounge guest needs to pass through the main bedroom to access the bathroom.  The cottage is in the main house, with its own entrance.  It is fully self-catering, has a dining table, full fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, 2 plate gas hob with pots and pans, plenty of crockery and cutlery, an air fryer is available on request, fan, heater, etc.

We provide teas, filter coffee, milk, rusks, a choice of cereals and a complimentary fruit bowl.  If you prefer, we can supply a healthy continental or a lovely hot breakfast in the cottage on request.

The property is fitted with generators and has borehole water back-up.

Guests are welcome to use the swimming pool and a braai is available on request. DSTV & Netflix on flat screen TVs in the lounges and main bedrooms.  Complimentary Wi-Fi fibre internet is available.  Serviced daily.  Electric blankets available for the chilly months, heating and quality linen, towels and hospitality items are provided. Secure off-street parking with remote access is provided. A driveway has been opened from Harrismith Street for extra parking.  AppleBee is conveniently situated 50m from St Andrew's Prep, 700m from St Andrew's College, DSG & Amazwi South African Museum of Literature and 1.2km from Rhodes University and the CBD and an easy 5 minute drive to Kingswood Colege.
